Primary School Pupils in Badenoch can participate in playtime pond-watching again thanks in part to the efforts of BSW Timber’s Boat of Garten mill.
The Boat of Garten mill have donated the raw materials required to rebuild Abernethy Primary school’s pond-dipping platform.
The school, which has a naturally occurring pond in its grounds, had to close its previous platform two years ago due to health and safety concerns.
Dave Mills, Mill Manager at BSW Timber Boat of Garten, said: “It’s fantastic to be able to help Abernethy Primary school with the timber for their brand-new pond dipping platform, at BSW Timber we always try to give back to our local communities whenever we can, and this is such a great local cause to support.”
Pupils at the school have reached out to BSW by creating a heartfelt ‘Thank You’ card to “Dave and team”.
Rhona Bootle, head teacher at Abernethy Primary School, said: “This is community engagement at its best, with members of our community contributing their time, energy and their vision and resolve to actually make things happen. We couldn’t have achieved this without that resolve, determination and kind-heartedness so thanks to all our donors for their support.”
Mr Grant, who designed and built the renovated path and platform said, “My kids went to the school and had a great time, I believe every kid should have the same opportunity.”
To celebrate the opening of the new platform a local Highlife Highland ranger and RSPB ranger led a day of fun pond-dipping activities for the children.
