John Badham scores with drive of his life

August 5, 2008

BSW Timber has handed the keys to a stunning Audi TT to John Badham of Melton Mowbray after he scored a stunning hole-in-one in Humberside.

Mr Badham won the Audi TT worth £25,000 following his successful hole-in-one effort on the ninth hole at Brough Golf Course at the Timber Trade Benevolent Society Golf Day.

BSW Timber organised the competition through "Worldwide Hole 'n One", a company which insures against a winner beating the 15,000-1 odds to shoot a hole-in-one.

Eighty players were all in with a chance to drive home the Audi TT, however Mr Badden's successful shot saw him judged an unlikely winner.

Alan Wheat of BSW Timber said: "This was a fantastic prize and we are delighted John came up trumps with this amazing shot on the ninth hole.

The Timber Trade Benevolent Society (TTBS) provides invaluable support for those working in the industry and we are proud to be associated with such a worthwhile cause."

Mr Badham said: "Unfortunately I don't get the opportunity to play as much
golf as I would like. I am absolutely delighted to not only score a hole-in-one, but also win this fantastic car. I am very grateful to David West and Malcolm Hyde of Select Timber for inviting me to play in their team and grateful to BSW for organising the competition and supporting the TTBS."

A registered charity, the TTBS was established to help those in reduced circumstances who have been employed in the UK timber industry.
