BSW Timber Wins Top Award

BSW Latvia Sia, the wholly owned Latvian sawmill of BSW Timber has won a prestigious award in Riga. At a ceremony in the Riga Stock Exchange, Dienas Biznes ( the leading Latvian financial daily ) presented the award for the Best Managed Company in Latvia to BSW Latvia's MD, Sven Rutgersson and Commercial Director Inesis Argalis.
BSW was voted the best of the top 500 companies in Latvia. The judges rated each company in terms of profitability and growth together with other key performance measures as well as overall standards of management. The award ceremony was attended by over 500 invited guests and included the Latvian ministers of Finance, Economy and Agriculture and leading members of the business community.
Commenting on the award, Managing Director of BSW Latvia Sia Sven Rutgersson said " We were pleased to be included in the top 500 businesses in Latvia. However, to be named as the best run business was a great honour and a tribute to the efforts of the whole BSW workforce in Latvia". Our Latvian Mill has built a reputation for quality and service and complements the production."
BSW Timber invested £12M in building it's Latvian sawmill, officially opened in 2001 by HRH the Prince of Wales. The mill situated on the outskirts of Riga produces over 100,000 m3 of sawn timber annually, concentrating on added value products for the UK and European markets.
