Macmillan Cancer Relief Donation
December 1, 2004
BSW Timber, the UK's largest sawmilling business, has donated £300 to Macmillan Cancer Relief, to bolster the fundraising efforts of its Newbridge Sawmill employees.
Chris Offa, sales team leader based at the Newbridge Sawmill, took part in a sponsored 10km road race in Aberystwyth on 12 December on behalf of the charity. He completed the race in 47 minutes and finished in 159th place raising £195 for Macmillan Cancer Relief - South and West Wales.
Chris was joined on the race by colleagues Justin Lewis and David Jones who finished 106th and 133rd place respectively. BSW Timber increased the donation by pledging £100 per team member on completion of the race, making the total monies donated to the charity, £495.
Alex Brownlie, General Manager of the Newbridge Sawmill, says, "We are all incredibly proud of the team's efforts in raising funds for such an important cause. And as the saying goes charity begins at home and we are delighted that the donation will assist
the South and West Wales branch of Macmillan Cancer Relief to continue its good work."
Chris Offa added: "It was a very cold and wet day, which made the race far more of a challenge but was well worth it in the end."
