BSW Timber has confirmed that the company is to hand over the import and distribution of Accoya from 1 May 2009.
The decision has been made due to a change in commercial focus by BSW towards developing new home-grown timber products.
The company continues to focus on its core business activities in the UK which includes developing a range of new added-value initiatives using exclusively British timber products. This includes the recent launch of Pi - a new patented intelligent panel system that uses BSW FSC certified British-grown timber.

Accoya raised the bar and set new standards for performance, sustainability and durability for a wide range of uses, and remains a high quality brand mark for our industry.
BSW was at the forefront at first seeing, then realising Accoya’s massive potential to the UK and Irish market. But, as a forward thinking company, we have to identify development areas which strengthen the core customer product offering and match the sawmills local timber resource forecasts.
We feel the time is now right to focus on new products inspired by our UK-sourced timber and we are now looking forward to launching a wide range of exciting new development initiatives using locally grown material.”
BSW signed an exclusive agreement with Titan Wood Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Accsys Technologies plc, to be the sole supplier of Accoya, across the UK and Ireland in 2006. Commercial production began the following year at a purpose built 30,000 m3 demonstration plant at Arnhem, Netherlands.
BSW is now working closely with Titan Wood to ensure a direct supply route of the product to the BSW developed Accoya markets across the UK and Ireland. BSW confirmed that imports of Accoya stock will continue as normal during the transition period.
With the very successful introduction of Accoya® wood in the UK market, Titan Wood will be working to expand their distribution partners, custom base, and service initiatives in the near future.
