BSW Moves Capacity Forward with new Treatment Tank

January 26, 2009

BSW Timber’s world-class high-pressure treatment tank system has now been installed by Arch Timber Protection at the Fort William location. The move signals a further step in the phased investment programme at the BSW sawmill facility at Fort William.

BSW Timber has used an Arch Timber Protection system following a previously successful model implementation in the company's Newbridge-on-Wye mill. The main tank is 15 metres in length and 2.4 metres in diameter, allowing Fort William to treble its treatment production capacity and significantly improve customer service.

The new system incorporates a tilting capability and offers both Green and Brown preservative timber treatment. The complete installation has been designed to allow future developments such as low pressure treatment and further high pressure treatment capacity as required.

Tony Hackney, Chief Executive of BSW Timber, said: "This investment demonstrates our commitment to the Fort William site and reflects our confidence in the future. This upgrade will enable us to significantly boost the treatment capabilities at Fort William and ensures that the sawmilling business evolves with our customers and services their demands. Innovation in the value added area is key to our development”.

“BSW is committed to continuous customer service improvement and as the UK market leader and we are investing in our sawmills now for future growth in value-added performance timber”.
